Pump oil lubricates moving parts, fills dead volume under the outlet valve, narrows the gap between the inlet and outlet, and compresses the gap between the vanes and the working chamber. Vacuum pump oil also ensures optimal temperature balance through heat transfer.
Oils for rotary vane pumps must meet high requirements, especially when pumps are in continuous operation:
- Low Vapor Pressure, Even at High Temperatures
- Excellent Lubricating Properties
- Low Oil Backflow
- Excellent Resistance To Aging
- Resistant To Break-Down
- Minimum Oxidation
Many pumped substances can cause deterioration of common oil and lead to mechanical problems. Special oils should be used as a prevention. Special oils may maintain lubricating properties but provide only limited protection against corrosion.
